Flashback
Upwords (with Syd at the helm) began formation circa 1993 when a dear friend was facing a challenging life crisis and was in dire need of some words of encouragement. What initially began as little sticky notes left on his kitchen cabinets sparked the design and distribution of thousands of inspired, handmade mini cards around the world. These (first generation mini cards were hand cut and marketed under the name, Script-O-Grams, talk about flashback) that were featured in Christian bookstores and party shops.
Fast Forward
The incredible response incited the 2014 official Upwords corporation launch. Upwords is now competitively providing individuals and companies with a tactile, inspirational experience, closing the gap with high touch products in a high tech world. Upwords has now expanded and is thrilled to offer an exceptional array of products that comprise excellent tools of encouragement.
All of the products have been chosen with thoughtful care in order to adhere to our purpose of glorifying the Master Encourager. In our General Store, for example, our Signature Java Mugs were chosen only after conducting considerable research and product testing. We wanted a mug that had the perfect hand-held grip, a thin rim (no spillage here, hello fellow moms), a base that would not have a dip (no one loves water build up.and mess after running through the dishwasher), and of course one that would be microwave safe.
Future Focus
In 2016, realizing that our Upwords family of shoppers loved the ease of an all-in-one gift box, complete with doorstep delivery the UPBOX™ encouragement package was born! UPBOX™ has become our focal passion project! Every month boxes packed with ENCOURAGEMENT INSIDE™ are curated offer an array of Scripturally-themed collections, and are filled to the brim (literally) with handmade bath, body, and beauty goodies, plus jewelry and home accessories! This makes shopping as easy as 1-2-3 (pick a plan 1, 3, 6, & 12-month options. purchase and we ship). We can even include a personal note! The best news is that we are working to build sustainable communities and partnerships by committing to work with small-batch artisans (in the USA) that use locally sourced resources of the highest quality.
